Even when I was a 1st time mom, I saved the shoes that my daughter outgrew for a "just-in-case" moment. I didn't know if I was going to have another child at the time and definitely couldn't predict the sex but it couldn't hurt. I bought a large plastic tub with a cover from Wal*Mart and just threw the shoes in, no particular order, and stored them away.
Now my oldest is 5 and my youngest is 1. They're both girls and that made it easy. Now that my little one is growing and walking, I dig through that tub for size appropriate shoes and am relieved I can save myself a trip to the shoe store with an active toddler... and save $ too!
